The
ideal conditions :
The
ideal conditions of the north-facing aspect of the vineyard
on a stony plateau and the chalky limestone soil, together
with a combination of 65% Merlot, 20% Cabernet Sauvignon and
15% Cabernet Franc grapes are the essential components in
order to obtain a product of great quality.

Production
control :
This
vineyard, which contains 5,000 vines per hectare, is characterised
by severe pruning which limits production. The traditional
and cultural methods of production, closely controlled treatment
against disease, as well as a thinning out of the bunches
of grapes during July, reduces further the amount harvested.
This means that the grapes are harvested at optimum maturity
over a period of several weeks, dependant upon the soil, age
and variety of the vines.
